SUMMARY

The Danville Police Department has been informed that it is eligible for a grant of $28,787 to be used for law enforcement purposes, from the United States Department of Justice 2020 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. Funds from this grant will be used to implement a speed trailer project that will enable officers to reduce the number of crashes and the injuries associated with them. The speed trailers will allow for more effective and efficient speed enforcement.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Ordinance Amending the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget Appropriation Ordinance by anticipating revenues of $29,787 from the United States Department of Justice 2018 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.
