SUMMARY

The Wednesday Afternoon Club, also known as the Wednesday Club, of Danville has requested tax exempt status for their property at 1002 Main Street.

BACKGROUND

In accordance with the provisions of subsection 6(A)(6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia and Chapter 36, Article 4.1, Section 58.1-3651 of the Code of Virginia 1950, as amended, City Council will consider applications for the designation of property as tax-exempt. The City is in receipt of an application for Tax Exempt Status from The Wednesday Club. The Wednesday Club provides weekly program designed to enhance the public’s interest in music, education, literature, the arts and other components of society. They also provide several scholarships and donations each year.

The Wednesday Club has requested exemption from taxes for their real property, located at 1002 Main Street, Parcel ID #25553, with an assessed value of $347,200 and $2,916.48 in real property taxes.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff makes no recommendation since tax exemption is solely a function of the Danville City Council.
