SUMMARY

This ordinance with change Danville City Code Section 20-8 with regard to the annual fee for business licenses issued to persons or businesses with annual gross receipts of $X (to be determined) or less.

BACKGROUND

Currently, Danville City Code Section 20-8 requires persons or businesses with annual gross receipts of $100,000 or less to pay an annual fee of $50 ($60 if filing late) for a business license. This change in City Code will exempt that fee in cases of timely filing, but will still require the fee to be paid if the person or business fails to submit the required licensing information to the Commissioner of Revenue in accordance with prescribed due dates.

The anticipated reduction in the City's Business License revenue for exempting this fee for annual gross receipts of $100,000 or less, is $80,000 annually.
