Consideration of Zoning Ordinance Amendment Establishing Campground Standards.

Rezoning PZ22-66, Initiated by the Planning Director, establishes standards for campgrounds in new Section 2.AA. Campgrounds, adds campgrounds as Uses Permitted by Special Permit in the SR-R Sandy River – Residential zoning district (Article 3.A.C.) and the T-R Threshold-Residential zoning district (Article 3.B.C.), and revises the campground definition in Article 15 to reference Virginia Code.
Although the zoning ordinance previously defined campgrounds, there was no applicable zoning district. This remedies that deficiency by updating definitions, so they are consistent with state law, and establishes special use standards.
The Planning Commission, at their April 11, 2022, meeting, voted 7-0 to recommend approval of Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment Application PZ22-66.
